This is easily the most anticipated project of the night at the DopeHouse.
Announced way back in February — you know, back before the world began to open up — Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars revealed that they were working on a collaborative album together. This would mark the first works from them since Bruno’s 2016 album 24k Magic and .Paak’s 2019 album Ventura (the two also toured together in 2017).
The pair would emerge in the summer as Silk Sonic, a soul-fused sound straight out of our parents’ (and, for some of you fetuses, grandparents’) Time Life Soul record collections, even bringing in the legendary Bootsy Collins to the fold. Now, after initially saying that the alum would arrive in 2022, An Evening With Silk Sonic has arrived.
Narrated by Bootsy, the project is a 9-song drop led by the singles “Leave The Door Open,” “Skate,” and “Smokin’ Out The Window.” Meanwhile, the likes of Thundercat joins in on the festivities as well. Excuse me, while I’ll be playing this album all weekend.
