Kendrick Lamar Debuts “Blue Faces” On ‘The Tonight Show’

When it was announced that Kendrick Lamar would be taking the stage on The Tonight Show, the crew and I came to the conclusion that he would be performing something new. His track record spoke for itself; an impromptu performance on Colbert’s final show on Comedy Central—which was topped with an even better act, a medley of To Pimp A Butterfly songs, on the comedian’s new show on CBS. Not to mention, the “Blue Faces” track that was spotted at the end of his Austin City Limits set list.

Turns out, we did receive a song! As confirmed by Questlove hours before the show, the Compton native performed a “Untitled 2″—or, “Blue Faces” (he says the song title at about the 44-second mark) in front of the live audience.

If, for whatever reason, you can’t watch at the moment, I’ve included the audio by itself below.

Before the performance, Kendrick sat down with Jimmy Fallon to discuss his Grammy nods, taking his time with TPAB, how Black Thought is the best rapper alive, and more.
