With BADBADNOTGOOD‘s fourth LP inching closer by the day, the trio liberate “Lavender” featuring Kaytranada. The two acts have linked multiple times in the past, including on a remix of Jamie Woon’s “Sharpness” and “Weight Off” from Kay’s 99.9% LP.

This time around, BBNG and Kaytranada slow the tempo down allowing a creeping, bass-filled synth line to lead the way as percussion and various other synthesizers work their way into the tune. BADBADNOTGOOD detailed how they arranged the song alongside Kaytranada to The FADER, who premiered the single:

“We made ‘Lavender’ amongst many other songs and samples with Kaytranada in our home studio, Studio 69. Kay started the idea as a beat with our drum breaks and some synth melodies. Then we recut the drums and synth to formulate a song with more sections. Kay came back to Toronto and gave us that hot lead melody as well as percussion and we all finalized the arrangement. It’s an incredible honour to call Kay a close friend of ours; he is a talent like no other.”

Stream “Lavender” below, and pre-order IV, which lands July 8, on Bandcamp.
