Scotty ATL is dropping his Daily Bread project Thursday. He shared one single — “So High” featuring Jay Dot Rain — last week, and another comes in the form of “Bye Bye” with Ty Dolla $ign.
The song begins with sounds of a drive by before Ty Dolla $ign‘s crackling voice sings “bye bye” while he pours out liquid from a bottle. The song is dedicated to the slew of people Scotty has lost this year.
“‘Bye Bye’ is about what happened to me when I lost 4 people in 4 weeks,” he told The FADER. “It talks about exactly what happened, verbatim. You can probably hear me crying rapping that shit. It’s one of my favorite songs on the project but it’s the hardest for me to listen to – I don’t play it by myself, I only listen to it when there’s other people around.”
Scotty describes the timeline of the nine acquaintances — from Bankroll Fresh to close family members — he’s lost this year in the song.
“I cried when I recorded it,” Scotty said. “It was a tough song to get through and even for me to listen to now.”
