Like plenty who made the XXL Freshmen list this week, Aminé drops off a new song, “Turf.”
Not quite as high energy as previous released like “Caroline” or “Red Mercedes,” Amine focuses on the goings-on of his neighborhood the last couple years on his new single. Given Portland is the place that raised him, he’s making sure to remember the people and places that made him the artist he is.
The song, which features Charlie Wilson on the outro, can be heard below.
Aminé also performed a stripped-down version of the single with Uncle Charlie in a supermarket for Vevo’s Stripped series.
“‘Turf” is an ode to my hometown and my upbringing,” Aminé told The FADER. “Always wanted to jam in a supermarket — having Uncle Charlie there was the cherry on top.”
