In my opinion, Jose Luis Gotcha is owed a couple of rental checks from rappers who’ve lifted his hardcore-yet-eccentric lyrical style. With his eclectic sense of rapping blasting him into the spotlight in throughout the late 90s-early Aughts, I feel that some fellow New Yorkers wouldn’t have been willing to take risks with their own sound had it not been for him. One such emcee is A$AP Ferg: I’m not saying that Noreaga directly influenced his methods, but the Fergenstein is definitely not afraid to warp his sound around a beat like a warmed Jolly Rancher wrapped around a Charms Blow Pop.

The two joined forces to announce a new season, which to me is another name for this ridiculously sticky and grimy-feeling weather New York is experiencing (or, another typical summer in the Big Apple). Produced by SPKilla and Nel E Nel, they go back and forth over some frenetic drums and a Lil Wayne sample with their unique sound. This is a perfect set-up to Capone-N-Noreaga’s upcoming project Lessons, which drops July 24th.
