Taylor Bennett is set to release his Broad Shoulders album the day before Thanksgiving. After getting the debut single, “Happy Place,” a couple weeks ago, Taylor enlists his older brother, Chance the Rapper, for the reminiscent title-track to the mixtape.
“Broad Shoulders” is almost like a conversation between the two brothers, encouraging each other to continue to chase their dreams. After a verse about growing up from Taylor, Chance remembers having to keep his younger brother in line while they were kids before Taylor returns offering thanks to his family for reminding him of their presence.
This is sweet as hell, man. Just two brothers appreciating each other over soft, piano-driven production. Though they’re both succeeding (or trying to succeed) in the music world, at the core of it all, they’re family, and it’s what matters first.
