The Weeknd Performs “Starboy” & “False Alarm” On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Let’s be brutally honest here: Saturday Night Live really lost its steam following the departure of its major players like Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers and Jason Sudeikis — all of whom left between 2012-2014.

The long running late night sketch comedy show has been hanging by a single thread, and if it wasn’t for artists including Drake and Ariana Grande, who held down double duties as both host and guest performer, the show more than likely would have been canceled due to poor ratings.

Surprisingly, tonight marks their 42nd season, and for the season opener, SNL has hired Margot Robbie as the season premiere’s host, and The Weeknd — complete with a new haircut — who hit the stage as the night’s guest performer.

The multiple-platinum Canadian singer just announced the release of his third studio album, STARBOY last week.

Watch Abel perform his latest singles, “Starboy” and “False Alarm” below. Pre-order the album, which arrives on Nov. 25th on iTunes now.
