Kevin Gates To Be Granted Early Release From Prison

It once again looks like things will turn over, for the better, for Kevin Gates

After being convicted of battery and sent to jail for six months, the Baton Rouge rapper was slated to be released from a Florida jail back on March 29th, 2017. And he was… for roughly 24 hours.

The following day, he turned himself in to a Chicago jail to serve time for an outstanding warrant from a gun case in 2013. Keep in mind, his debut album Islah shortly went Platinum just before the Florida stint.

After pleading guilty to the charge of felony gun possession, Gates would sentenced to prison for 30 months. At the time of the sentencing, it appeared that Gates won’t be released from prison until late 2019.

According to TMZ, Lindsay Hess of the Illinois Department of Correction revealed that Gates would be released from prison on Wednesday, January 10th, after serving nine months. Getting out on parole, his release conditions would include “mandatory supervision and no possession of firearms” among other circumstances.

Hopefully, this means that Gates will be and remain a free man throughout 2018.

His latest project By Any Means 2, is out now.
