Common, Robert Glasper & Karriem Riggins Release Debut Album, ‘August Greene’ A Few Days Early

blame it on Meka March 5, 2018

2017 was the year of the collaborative albums: Offset and 21 Savage, Quavo and Travis Scott, Talib Kweli and Styles P, DJ Quik and Problem, and Fabolous and Jadakiss were among the many, many artists that got together for a full-length project.

We even got the long-lost T-Wayne album from T-Pain and Lil Wayne!

2018 looks to continue that trend, with eLZhi and Khrysis and DJ Premier and Royce 5’9″ already among the early drops/highlights. Now, August Greene formally introduce themselves with their self-titled debut LP.

Common, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins first came together for the Emmy-winning song “Letter To The Free,” for Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th. The three have now taken that working relationship further, dropping an 11-track album with features from Brandy (on the first single “Optimistic“) and “Black Kennedy.”

Although the album is slated to drop March 9th, NPR has given fans a chance to listen to the album a few days ahead of its release. Stream it in its entirety here.
