Raphael Saadiq Returns With Fifth Album, ‘Jimmy Lee’

blame it on Meka August 23, 2019

Charles Ray Wiggins, née Raphael Saadiq, has been one of music’s most enduring and influential artists of all time. From his days as a member of Tony! Toni! Toné! to his production work with Solange (“Cranes In The Sky“) and Rick Ross (“Apple of My Eye,” from Rather You Than Me), Saadiq’s blueprints are over nearly everyone’s DNA.

The living legend has now released his fifth solo album, Jimmy Lee. His first full-length project since 2011’s Stone Rollin, the 13-track offering (preceded by the singles “Glory To The Veins” and “Something Keeps Calling“) includes contributions from Kendrick Lamar (“Rearview”), Ernest Turner, Rob Bacon, Daniel J. Watts, and Reverend E. Baker.

In between today’s Dumbo drop of drops, this will be the one this writer will pay significant attention to. Press play on Jimmy Lee below.
