Let’s be real here: this Canadian duo – who are a part of a crew called the New Wave Order – essentially took bits, pieces and cues from Migos, Young Thug, and Future, mixed it in with some Caribbean sensibilities and mashed them all together into a three-minute song… and yet, I can’t stop bouncing to it because of that beat. For something that, logically, shouldn’t ever work in real life, the two have managed to strike a delicate balance of said influences over some of the most triumphant set of horns I’ve heard in recent rap memory. I’m basically expecting Drake to jump on this like he’s done on so many other tracks in the past… you know, if he can find some free time away from Lira Galore, that is. This may end up being Impala and Ty’s only post at the DopeHouse (I hope not), but – and only if you take the song for what it’s worth (yeah, good luck with that, so-called “real hip hop” elitist pundits!) – it’s definitely worth the bandwidth.
