In August 2017 it was announced that Kendrick Lamar had parted ways with Reebok and had signed a sneaker deal with Nike. Since then he has been seen wearing various iterations of the Nike Cortez, and even took to his Instagram page to reveal a forthcoming(?) sneaker with the global brand, the Cortez Kenny.”
During his performance at the CFP National Championship Halftime Show, Kendrick debuted the Nike Cortez Kenny I on foot. Completely different from the first version, The Cortez Kenny I is a mostly-white sneaker with “DAMN” across the profile of the shoe. The sneaker also features a black tongue, and “DAMN” replaces “NIKE” on it.
The Cortez Kenny I is scheduled to release Jan. 26, shortly before the 60th Annual GRAMMYs in which Kendrick and JAY-Z lead all nominees. They will retail for $100.
