Score another one for Conrow Kenny.

Similar to Future when, earlier in the year, he released a new project EVOL out of the blue, Kendrick Lamar also surprised fans with the sudden drop of untitled unmastered. A compilation of songs that were culled during the creation of To Pimp A Butterfly, as well as songs he has performed throughout the last few months, the album has followed in Nayvadius’ footsteps and has topped the Billboard 200 in its opening week. untitled unmastered has sold approximately 178,000 copies, with 142,000 in pure album sales, in its first seven days, with Adele’s mega-seller 25 and Rihanna’s platinum album ANTI at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Lamar is the third act since January 2015 to have two No. 1s in less than 12 months, following Drake (If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, What a Time To Be Alive) and Future (DS2, What a Time To Be Alive and EVOL).

Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz also debuted high on the Billboard 200, with their own surprise project Collegrove reaching No. 4 — and beating out Justin Bieber’s Purpose in the process — on the charts.
